Wrath/Mercy first free Oxford Film Club event
We are kicking off Oxford Film Club with a free table read on January 23. Listen to the actors and then engage in a conversation afterward at 7 pm central time!
Wrath Mercy
Written and Directed by Brian Whisenant
Based on the play by Benjamin Craven
Logline: Adam is exhausted and looking for a way out. After years of drug addiction, one fateful decision will trigger an encounter with a woman who holds the key to his life. It’s up to Adam whether or not to grasp it.
DIRECTOR BRIAN WHISENANT:
Brian certainly has an eclectic and varied background when it comes to the world of film, dating back to memorizing every word of “The Empire Strikes Back” at the age of 8, accidentally going into the wrong theater at the Crossroads Twin Cinemas and watching “Moonstruck” at the age of 11 and sneaking a VHS of “The Silence of the Lambs” out of the local rental store at 15. More recently, Brian has not only worked for film festivals (running box offices at both the Tribeca Film Festival, Hamptons International Film Festival, and NewFest) but also covered them and the Oscars for both Awards Daily and his own website, brianwhisenant.com. Brian is also an actor and director--having starred in a variety of indie films and theatre and directed the 2020 Community Film, “The Golden Years.” Brian currently serves as an Advisory Board Member of GALECA: The LGBTQ Society of Entertainment Critics. Thanks to Melanie for this incredible and important opportunity!
Table Read Cast:
Katie Archbold Andrs - Narrator
A Southern California native, Katie has performed in regional theaters across the country. Previous credits include Follies, Brigadoon, Kiss Me Kate (Maine State Music Theatre); Annie, The Pajama Game (Allenberry Playhouse); A Christmas Carol national tour (Nebraska Theatre Caravan); Oliver!, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Little Mermaid (Off-Broadway Corona Theater), and lead singer/dancer sailing aboard Holland America cruise line.
Dan Schultz - Adam
Dan Schultz is a Los Angeles based actor who graduated from Oxford High School and studied acting at the University of Mississippi. He recently wrapped his first feature film Cherry and was a Global Shorts Best Actor finalist for his work on The Counter Agent. He performed internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014 and again at the Hollywood Fringe in 2018 and 2019. He is thrilled to once again be apart of the Oxford Film Festival!
SABINA MASCHI - WOMAN
Sabina’s first TV job was at Nickelodeon UK overseeing critical jobs like filling giant bathtubs with baked beans and casting unsuspecting children for live game shows. Her most memorable legacy to Nickelodeon viewers was the development of a character she played on-air--the formidably mad scientist Professor Wolfengakken. She then worked as director and producer at Asia's leading music channel, Channel [V].
After moving to New York she pursued acting and can be seen in Martin Scorsese's Oscar-nominated "The Wolf of Wall Street" where she plays a Swiss flight attendant molested by Leonardo Di Caprio. She has also acted alongside Breaking Bad's Emmy nominated Mark Margolis (Héctor "Tio" Salamanca) where she plays his doctor. Other roles booked include a Polish nanny for Law and Order, an Australian and French woman for HBO's "Katie Morgan show " (Sabina keeps her clothes on!), and numerous Italian and German voice-over roles for commercials, industrials, and promos.
Sabina and Brian (Director/Writer of Wrath Mercy) met starring together in the Independent Film “Special Needs” many years ago! Sabina is so excited to be reunited with Brian in his film.
